Maya Downs: 1 John 4:8

I will talk about 1 John 4:8 "Whoever does not love, does not know God because God is love." 1 John 4:8 means that if you don't love anyone you can't know God because God is love and all people. 1 John 4:8 also is like the story of Ruth and Naomi. The story of Ruth and Naomi is that Naomi's husband and son died, she was lonely and wanted to return to Bethlehem. Ruth lived with Naomi and loved her when Naomi said she was leaving Ruth said " I am your friend, I will never leave you! Wherever you go, I want to go, where you live I want to live too." So Naomi took Ruth to Bethlehem. In Bethlehem they worked in a field and married. I think Ruth and Naomi is like 1 John 4:8 because Ruth loves Naomi and knows God and God loves her. 1 John 4:8 is like a soccer, football, volleyball and many other sports because if you think those sports dont have a ball or anything you don't really know them or how to play them because those are the main things of the sport like love is the main thing of God!

Christian Gonzalez: Deuteronomy 6:5

Some people get saved when they are young, some people get saved when they are old, and some people get saved right in the middle. For me, blessed to know Christ at a very young age. I don't remember to many of the things I did before I met Christ, but I do remember I liked to play a lot of video games. Some video games were fun, and some scared me, which leads to how I got saved.

One night I saw my older sister Jasmine playing a zombie video game. It looked cool and I wanted to give it a try, so I asked my dad if I can play and he surprisingly said yes. My dad knew the video game would scare me, and he was right. After I played the video game, it was time for bed so I had to go to sleep. Not that brightest idea for me to play that game before bedtime but hey it looked so cool so I had to try it. As I laid there in bed, I couldn't go to sleep as I sat there thinking about zombies. It was totally not cool laying in bed while everybody is sleeping and there I was scared out of my mind. So I did what any other logical boy would do, ran into my parents room and placed myself right into their bed. My dad felt me get into bed and asked why I was sneaking into their bed, I told him that I was scared.

That is when he read me my favorite verse: "You should love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul and all your might." Deuteronomy 6:5

He explained that if we love our God everything we have, he will protect us from anything and everything we fear. We both then got on our knees at the bedside and prayed to God to forgive me for all of my sins and that is when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. Since that day I have not been scared and my love for God and Christ has been as strong as its ever been.

A.J. Zanders: Football!

Okay, this sermon is about football. You are probably thinking, what football has to do with the bible or with life. A lot more then you think. So in football when the quarterback gets the ball the defenders try to tackle him, those defenders are like the devil and bad people trying to take you down, and make you lose. But when the quarterback throws the ball, he extends his arm almost like his is reaching for something. Sp when those defenders come at you have to extend your arm and reach to God. And another thing is that, if your at the park playing football and Peyton Manning shows up and ask's if he can play you say sure and thell him that your going to finish the play, but we never put him in we forget about him and leave him our of the game. This is what we do in life we say, ok God I'll pray in a second but we never do it, we say I'll finish the game, but you still don't make time for him, because he gave up his son for us, but we only give him 30 minutes, when Jesus gave his life. So when the time comes, God is in the game!

Finn Gambus: Matthew 19:16-30 The Rich Young Man

A reading from Matthew 19:16-30:

The Rich Young Man

16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" 17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." 18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' " 20 "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." 27 Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?" 28 Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

In this part of the Bible the rich man wants to keep his possessions and he wants to go to Heaven. Jesus seats he must choose. The rich man does not want to choose and knows how his wealth make shim comfortable and not afraid. If he gives his possessions away he's afraid what its like to be poor. Jesus says "he doesn't need to be afraid cause God will take care of him." It is so hard for a rich man to trust in God and thats why its compared with a camel fitting into the eye of a needle. Money is important only when believe and when you believe God takes care of you money is not important because you know God will protect you. Selfish people are not happy and will not enter into the kingdom of God and the must have more then everybody. And unselfish person gives all his things just for respect and love.

Josh Williams: The Miracle of Water Into Wine

Joshua Williams
So we heard about God's love but God is so much more then love He is all powerful and he had a son named Jesus and that son could do anything. This story is about water and wine. Jesus was at a wedding. The wine ran out Mary said, "Jesus there is no wine" Jesus replied "why do you involve me?" Jesus saw six stone jars he said for the servants to get the jars and fill them with water so they filled them to the brin. Then Jesus turned the water into wine. If you dont get this story, Jesus is talking about the Old and New Testament, the Old Testamentwas good but God is bring something better: Jesus

Jonathan Lang: 1 John 4:7-11 God Is Love

Jonathan Lang
So you probably know what God's love is but did you know how massive it is? If you were in V.B.S you'd already know about this story but who cares. So, we learned that one Christian author said that is we filled the ocean with ink, and the sky was a scroll, and every person was a scribe by trade and every blade of grass was a quill to write the love of God would empty the ocean dry and would fill the sky. But would not be done. This is just one of the things that help you understand how insanely great God's love is. Well also one example is that God created imperfect, He didn't make us to just do nothing. He made heaven a place that we run to, to see the perfect one Jesus Christ. One bible passage that totally explains God's love is 1 John 4:7-11. It says "Dear friends let us love one another for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is love! Not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son as an astonishing sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us we ought to love one another."
God Is Love!
These verses are practically saying that God is love and that love comes from the Messiah not us. This explains that we are all sinners and it is impossible for us to get to Heaven. And then in comes God's amazing love. He sent his  one and only son for us. He could have had seven sons and didn't care about the last one. But he gave his only son because he loves the world he created. This love is astonishing and some of us can barely believe it. If ya'll want to be like Jesus look at Galatians 5:22-23 it says: "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is now law." Guys, if you want to be lie Jesus you should follow this and the Ten Commandments. These both tell you the things that you should do if you want to be closer to Jesus. Finally, God gives us these rules because he loved his creations. And most importantly remember that: he writes (take off jacket)
GOD IS LOVE!

Hope Lott: John 3:16 God Gives Us Second Chances

Hope Lott
John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

God gives us second chances in life...You may think that this verse is not about second chances but it is. We do had things and that makes us sinners but God is always there to forgive us.

Like John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world" we loves us so much that He sent his son to die for all of us and if thats not a second chance I don't know what is.

When God made Adam and Eve he did not want them to sin but they did and God forgave them and all of of us by giving us the second chance named Jesus. Their sin did not stop God from giving us not only a second chance but a gazillion chances.

If God did not give us a second chance through Jesus where would we be?

I am thankful and happy that God sent His son Jesus to be our second chances in the form of a Savior. I love Jesus very much and pray that you do too.
Amen!
